The EMT is a partnership project between the European Commission and higher-education institutions offering master's level translation programmes.

The main goal of this project is to establish a quality label for university translation programmes that meet agreed standards in education. University programmes that are benchmarked to these standards become members of the EMT network.





Results of the latest selection round


The EMT aims to ensure that an increasing number of programmes are based on a valid, skills-oriented framework of competences. The EMT translator competence profile — drawn up with a group of prominent European experts — details the competences translators need to work successfully in today's market.

In the long run, the EMT sets out to enhance the status of the translation profession in the European Union.
